The funny thing about the @TheRealHoz35 controversy is that he thinks OPS is some sort of new age advanced analytic? In reality it’s basically just an old school rate stat! And the things he claims analytics fail to take into account… are exactly the things it accounts for

Cubs thoughts: baseball is weird, and even really good teams have stretches where they look lost in every way. BUT, after two months of “good but not great,” it’s probably time to adjust our priors. I think the cubs are still a real contender, but no longer an obvious top 5 team

Of course, teams like that can still get hot and win a World Series. Their offense can carry them. But enough has been questionable since June 1 that I wouldn’t have them as odds-on favorites in most playoff series
