Modern Halasi was known as Palasikanagara in ancient times. It was one of the secondary capitals of the Kadambas who ruled from Goa. Actually Halasi was the capital of the ancient province, Halasige.

That gap is my presentation. The closing of it, I suspect, is sitting in the other delegations’ notes, and I intend to take some home.
The 2nd BRICS Culture Working Group Meeting will be held in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, on 4–5 June 2026, bringing together delegates from BRICS nations to strengthen cooperation in the fields of the creative economy, cultural heritage protection, and sustainable development.

The monument is “Chennakesava Temple” Belur
The Chennakesava temple at Belur is perhaps the best specimen of Hoysala architecture and sculpture. The place was known as Velapura or Velapuri.

The #Monument consists of garbhagriha, sukhanasi and a sabhamandapa in east-west axis. There is a circumbulatory passage covering garbhagriha and antarala. At the outset and even from a distance it attracts our attention because of the presence of the prominent northern type sikhara. It is described as belonging to Rekha- Nagara type, a sub type of Nagara or north Indian variety of sikhara.
