Seeing our stories brought beautifully to life and witnessing Somalia standing tall on one of the world’s biggest art stages is a feeling I can’t describe. Huge congratulations to Commissioner Abdirahman Yusuf, the incredible artists Ayan Farah, Asmaa Jama, and Warsan Shire, and curators Mohamed Mire and Fabio Scrivanti, and everyone who helped turn this dream into reality. On May 8th, the very first Somalia National Pavilion officially opened, a historic day. Through the profound work of Ayan Farah, Asmaa Jama, and Warsan Shire, our oral heritage has been translated into physical space. The pavilion was officially inaugurated by the Deputy Minister of the @MOISOMALIA and the Director of the National Museum of Somalia. We were honored to share this milestone with delegates from the Somali global community, partners, family and friends, and the wider art community. We are incredibly grateful to our artists, and to the Somali community whose love and belief brought us here. The doors are open.
