This year, District 30 received a $2.4 million dollar NYSIP grant, specifically to integrate the district. How is that money being used so far? It's going towards a series of shockingly unorganized, unfocused and poorly informed district-wide PD's.
This speaks volumes to how little our district's leaders value meaningful integration and the work it involves. We don't need echo chambers. We need leaders who care enough about CRE to actually invest in it. What a waste.
The fact that thousands of middle school teachers and children are re-entering school buildings tomorrow for the first time since November to administer the SHSAT test - a tool of segregation - is outrageous. And the silence of electeds on this is deafening. #UnscreenOurSchools

We don't accept @NYCMayor's decision to keep the racist SHSAT G&T exams this year. It's not too late to cancel them. Sign the petition, tag elected officials, tell the PEP to vote NO on the G&T contract on 1/27.
Let's fight 💪 #CancelSHSAT#CancelGandTchange.org/p/mayor-de-blasio…
We’re thinking of all of our students and educators today who are processing this together. Our hearts are broken. We are so, so angry. But we’re holding on to the message of @ReverendWarnock and to the hope of his historic victory. m.youtube.com/watch?v=Sj4Vdy…
Several orgs came together to affirm the decision to eliminate middle school screens, but we have some concerns and recommendations, @NYCMayor@DOEChancellor
Here’s our full statement on today’s announcement from @NYCMayor & @DOEChancellor regarding changes in admissions policy during the pandemic, and our continued fight to uproot systems of oppression & segregation across the board. #UnscreenOurSchools
We applaud some of @NYCSchools' system-wide changes to exclusionary screening, but this is just one small step toward creating a truly just education system. bit.ly/3myZya6
But @nycmayor, this is not “the beginning” as you said today. You’ve sat on these recommendations for over a year. We really wish it hadn’t taken a global pandemic for you to take action. And we really wish the action taken was more equitable.
