.@913sportfm do a great job in both winter (covering WAFL matches and hosting WAFL World twice a week) and summer (broadcasts of Sheffield Shield cricket, which thankfully continued last summer thanks to sponsors coming on board at the 11th hour). I only made a small-ish donation but every $ helps keep them on air! 📻 asf.org.au/campaigns/sportfm…

HAPPY SATURDAY!! It's road trip day today as I've made the drive to Bunbury for Round 13 of the AFL season. Thankfully I managed to get up when my alarm clock went off!! Today my Dockers play North Melbourne at Hands Oval and this is the first time I've seen Freo play not at Optus Stadium since Round 5 last year at Barossa Park. Thankfully the Ticketmaster email helped, there was plenty of parking at Kelly Park (for $15} and a shuttle bus to the ground so I made it here in good time! BUT, the massive lines meant I was lucky to get before bouncedown. Now to find a spot where I can see the game 👀 #ForeverFreo#GameDaySelfie📸

Nooooo :( Jack's leadership and presence up forward for the Thunder will be missed, having kicked 9 goals (3 bags of 3) in the last three rounds - 10 in a month of footy if you include the State Game. #WAFL #GoThunder
Big loss for Peel Thunder with captain Jack Sears out with a fractured finger and won't play against Swan Districts in Mandurah tomorrow. First-round pick Josh Lindsay and Cat B rookie Jake Miles-Wrency named for the WAFL Eagles against Claremont, who will debut 2024 U18 All-Australian defender Clancy Dennis who's been banging down the door in the twos. wafootball.com.au/news/round…

Despite the weather not being as bad as predicted at bounce down, scoring was hard in the first quarter, West Coast with most of the ball in the first 15 minutes but with only 0.3 to show. Leon Kickett showed his silky skills to open Peel's account and Sean Hunter entered the mark of the year contest with a flying pack mark on the wing but West Coast went into the break 9 points ahead with Sean Darcy hitting the post with a free kick shot after the siren. Peel slowly clawed their way back in the second quarter and finally took the lead in the 15th minute through Jack Sears while keeping West Coast goalless. And despite only a couple of bursts of rain only five goals were kicked for the half. The rain came down at the second half started but so did captain Jack Sears dominance in the forward 50, kicking his second goal and was unlucky not to have had a couple more. Austin Polmear kicked his first league goal and Trystan Brice added Peel's third for the quarter from a 50m penalty for umpire descent. A late goal to Tom Gross, the Eagles first since the 24th minute of the opening term made it 16 points at the final change. The lead see sawed between a 3 and 4 goal margin, the Eagles did threaten to challenge Peel with two shots in two minutes, but with Schoenberg missing and Sears kicking his third 90 seconds later the Thunder were home by 22 points. WCE 4.9 PT 8.7 My picks today were: 5️⃣ Tardrew ⚡ (29 disp) top disposal getter in the game, worked hard in the midfield and drove the ball inside 50 and equal game leading six times. 4️⃣ Sears ⚡ (14 disp, 3 marks, 3.2) stamped his authority on the game in the first quarter, also put pressure on the WC defenders inside 50 time and time again. 3️⃣ Banfield ⚓ (18 disp, 4 marks, 3 tackles) played a rebounding role on half back, helping stop the flow into the Eagles forward 50. 2️⃣ Darcy ⚓ (13 disp, 6 marks, 35 hitouts) Started the game in the centre square and while Flynn dominated early, Sean won the hitouts 35-33. Also took a game high 6 marks, marking at both ends of the ground. Played a fair amount of game time and didn't appear to be managed. 1️⃣ Hunter ⚡(13 disposals, 3 marks) noticeable in the long sleeves, the NTFL product continued his good work from last week (10 marks) by providing a marking and rebounding option on the last line of defence. #WAFL #ForeverFreo#GoThunder

First quarter stats for big Sean Darcy, unlucky not to have a goal to his name from a late free kick, the ball hitting the post. #WAFL #GoThunder#ForeverFreo

HAPPY SUNDAY!! It's a bit of a wild and wet day today but a bit of rain isn't stopping me from being at footy. Round 8 of the #WAFL continues today at Lathlain Park where West Coast take on my Thunder boys. It's a bit of a "comeback from injury" game - West Coast have Brandon Starcevich again this week as he recovers from a calf injury and Peel have big Sean Darcy, also recovering from a calf injury. Hopefully both boys get through the game unscathed🤞

Gone sadly at such a young age, but Neale's impact in fighting MND will long live on. Love how he fought until the end, always with a smile despite living with a disease currently with no cure. 💔 afl.com.au/news/1528017/figh…

Today was a convincing win for the third place (3-3) Thunder, leading second place South Fremantle (5-1) all game. The first ten minutes played almost entirely in Peel's forward 5, the margin lucky to not be 30 points if Corey Tregenza hadn't hit the post in the second minute. The margin was as much as 41 points in the 3rd quarter, but the Bulldogs won the last quarter 4.2 to 0.3 (including a goal after the siren to Toby Dodds) to make it a more respectable 3 goal win (13.10 to 10.10) to the Thunder. Some observations today: Hugh Davies must be leading the Peel B&F. 27 disposals today with a massive 21 marks, he's become a slightly quicker and more confident player this season in defence. Moves up the ground when required too, but a rock close to goal. Cooper Simpson (25 disp) and Tobyn Murray (15 disp) were super quick today, Cooper mostly rebounding from defence and Tobyn further forward, finding targets with 3 inside 50s, though he does need to improve his accuracy at goal (0.3). Bailey Banfield (21 disp, 5 marks, 4 tackles) great in parts as a rebounding defender, though this is probably no surprise since he's played in defence for Freo. Leading forwards make kicking goals easier. Big forwards Corey Tregenza (3.2) and Charlie Nicholls (3.0) delivered today. Nicholls developing nicely, also played a bit at half back. Is Ollie Murphy the first Docker to get cut at season's end? Played ressies again today and despite some good bits of play earlier in the season he feels slower than Davies and McDonald has been preferred over both of them. Aidan Riddle (13 disp, 5 marks) developing nicely! 38 hitouts today and early on in the game was winning his own ball in the centre! Has an excellent leap and is also quite quick for someone of 200cm. #WAFL #GoThunder#ForeverFreo

Happy Saturday!! The milestone games continue this weekend, today is Peel Thunder captain Jack Sears' 💯th #WAFL league game. At 24 he is currently the youngest captain in the league and is a versatile player that can play in defence or up forward as required. While Peel may have 13 AFL listed players out on the park today, our opponents South Fremantle (who are 2nd with a 5-1 record) are no slouches when it comes to talent. They have Isiah Winder (WCE, 7 game), Ethan Hughes (Fremantle, 107 games), Jamaine Jones (Geelong/WCE, 66 games) and Matthew Parker (St Kilda/Richmond, 30 games) who all have AFL experience. Souths will go in favourites today, but hopefully my Thunder can get the win and make it a special day for Captain Jack!! #GoThunder#GameDaySelfie📸

Happy Saturday! I've been sick all week but a little bit of a cough wasn't going to stop me enjoying my weeekend! Today is the State Game at Leederville Oval which sees the best of the #WAFL take on the best of the SANFL. My Thunder is represented by gun midfielder Lachie Tardrew, our captain Jack Sears and premiership coach Adam Reid👊 C'mon WA 📣

What a game we saw today at Leederville Oval! Early on it looked like the Thunder were going to make light work of the Royal, Peel with the first 5 scoring shots and the first 10 minutes almost entirely in Peel's forward 50. But the Royal clawed back the 16 point to under a goal before a Corey Tregenza shot after the siren made it 10 points Peel's way. Just three scores (all goals) in the second, including captain Jack Sears 2nd to help give Peel a slender 4 point lead at the main break. The second half was a sea-sawring affair and at times Peel looked to have done enough in a low scoring game, like when Sears kicked his 3rd in the 10 minute of the third to open up a 15 point lead. But East Perth never gave up and had plenty of chances and livewire forward Sebit Kuek threatened, but didn't capitalise after Oscar McDonald give him too much space to break free. An early Kuek goal to start the forth cut the margin to 2 points, captain Sears had two opportunities to extend the margin but only managed minor scores. It wasn't until Corey Tregenza converted in the 11th minute was it a two goal game. The Royals had the last three scoring shots of the game but Peel held on to win by 6 points 9.8 to 8.8, Peel now 3-3 and back in the five going into the State Game bye. My picks today were; 5️⃣ O'Driscoll ⚓ (22 disp, 8 marks, 1.0) Felt like Nathan was everywhere today and used his pace to advantage in moving the ball through the midfield. 4️⃣ Davies ⚓ (19 disp, 9 marks) Continues his good season with a equal game high 9 marks. Managed some good intercept marks and kept Sebit Kuek in check when he was his opponent. Will be dirty he dropped a mark in D50 (running towards the goal) in the third and was pinged for a deliberate rushed behind from the resulting kick of the spilt ball. 3️⃣ Riddle ⚓ (12 disp, 32 hitouts) Lost the hitout count 35-32 to the taller and more experienced Scott Jones but showed mobility with his leap at the ruck contest. Rucked the majority of the game, with Draper as his backup, without Crossor or Burmeister in the side. Aidan is developing nicely after injury cut his 2025 short. 2️⃣ Simpson ⚓ (23 disp, 5 marks, 4 tackles) Like O'Driscoll, Cooper had plenty of ball between the arcs, helping mop the ball up and half back and driving the ball forward with his pace. 1️⃣ Sears ⚡ (12 disp, 5 marks, 3.3) provided a target up forward from early on and with Charlie Nicholls relatively quite today. Will rue missing a number of getable shots at goal that would have almost sealed the game early in the last. I also thought Brandon Walker was good in defence in the first half, helping stem the flow of the ball into East Perth's forward 50, but The West reports he has concussion again. Jeremy Sharp lead all players with 36 touches, but I thought that O'Driscoll and Simpson had more impact on the game. #WAFL

HAPPY SATURDAY!! It's another lovely day (23° and clear) in Perth and I'm spending my Saturday afternoon at Leederville Oval for Round 6 of #WAFL season 2026. Today it's 4th placed (3-2) East Perth taking on my Thunder who are currently in 6th (2-3). I missed last week's demolition of West Perth as I had a pub crawl in Freo to go to (which was a wonderful catch up with a great bunch of workmates and ex-workmates), so there was no way I was going to miss two weeks in a row. East Perth won't be a pushover and impact of their ball magnets in Sandover Medalist Hamish Brayshaw and former Peel player (from the Freo alignment) Tom North need to be neutralized by the Peel mids. #GoThunder#GameDaySelfie📸
