Bard is wearing an elvish gown and crown and saying hesitantly that he doesn't dislike it but it's a little ostentatious and on the tighter side. Thranduil replies it's customary for his people to dress this way and asks if Bard means to insult their fashion. Dáin interjects that Bard should ignore Thranduil because he 'needs a moment to relearn his grip on his staff' and Thranduil whacks Dáin with his staff and tells Bard to try on something else to see if it suits him better.

Bard is now wearing a dwarvish crown and gown and expresses that he doesn't mean to insult Dáin as well but it also seems a bit too much and he would rather it be longer. Dáin asks if he'd rather wear a potato sack to his own coronation, and then teasingly remarks that Bard is a bit taller than a dwarf so it is true that they should cover his legs a bit more so nobody gets distracted, including the elf next to him. To this, Thranduil whacks Dáin with his staff again and says, "Curse the foolishness of Dwarves. We shall try another."
