That Gianni Infantino unilaterally altered the structure of football matches is deserving of so much more anger.

Seb Hutchinson and Andros Townsend are a quality commentary duo. Insightful, fun, not po-faced, good company.

A truly beautiful World Cup moment, and a couple of minutes later it’s followed by a drinks breaks inside an air-conditioned stadium that keeps the players waiting while I assume the US broadcaster comes back from an advert. Gross.

I appreciate I’m speaking into the void here, but BBC *really* need to get a clock on their highlights. You lose so much context without it.

Arsenal are exploring a deal to sign winger Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge. A move for Tzolis would not impact Arsenal’s interest in recruiting Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers or an alternative target, as work continues to strengthen their attack. Shocked to hear David Hockney has died. His huge achievement was to make serious painting look effortless. He carried forward one of the most sustained investigations into vision, space and representation by any post-war artist. British art has lost a giant.

Oh so the ‘vice’ in ‘Harry Brook is vice-captain’ means the other kind of vice does it
England captain Ben Stokes and Gus Atkinson have been dropped for the second Test against New Zealand after breaching team protocols, with Joe Root taking over as skipper.

The classic T20 scenario where a wicketkeeper, wearing batting pads and batting gloves, plus a helmet, takes a diving catch parallel to the square leg umpire, who is next to TWO square leg fielders, both wearing whites, with floodlights on under midday blue skies. AI sucks.

This feels very England v Croatia/Italy/Spain. Arsenal can’t get anywhere near the ball!

That’s a squad where the attacking options have been rightly built to get the most out of Kane. Strong starting XI, but not huge depth at the back or in midfield. Would’ve taken another no.10 over Toney, and we might regret not picking Wharton/Scott if Anderson gets injured.
This is the England squad BBC Sport expects to be named 📋 The final place in the 26-man squad is expected to go to Myles Lewis-Skelly, Trent Alexander-Arnold or James Garner.

Do people actually enjoy having the World Cup squad leaked? Same with player signings. Isn’t it more fun to find out when they’re officially announced?

Beautiful goal with his weaker foot and a craft little assist. Emi Buendia playing the hits. Love him, and what a story his comeback’s been this season.
