I left auto-posting out on purpose. Reddit nukes generic AI replies on sight, so a bot that drafts them for you is a feature that gets your account banned. It surfaces the thread, you write the reply.

Everyone says AI killed the SaaS moat. The opposite happened, honestly. The thin wrappers were always going to die, AI just sped it up. What doesn't port is a workflow wired into a company's actual systems. Prompts are portable. That plumbing isn't.

The number that made it click for me: thin AI wrappers churn ~65% inside 90 days. The SaaS baseline is ~35%. There was never anything holding the customer in.

A small team can clone your SaaS in a weekend now. That's not the scary part. The scary part is your moat was always "we have the features," and you just found out features were never the moat. Distribution, trust, and the thing only you know about your customer. That's what's left. Go build there.

Watched a "feature-complete" tool get cloned last year. The clone was actually better. It still died. The original had three years of knowing exactly which five emails its users opened. You can't weekend-clone that. Features ship in a weekend. Context takes years.

Asked a founder what his break-even customer count was. He didn't know. He had "lots of users." He also had four months of runway and a per-seat plan that agents were quietly eating into. Knowing your floor isn't boring finance stuff. It's the difference between a pivot and a goodbye post.

Last month I swapped out a $40 per-seat reporting tool for a client. One agent on a cron, builds the same dashboard nobody was logging in to read anyway. Spent an afternoon last week capping an agent that kept looping on a task it had basically already finished. That's the entire Copilot bill story right there, the meter didn't get greedy. The loop just never had a stop condition.
