The PT Minister wouldn't say the new myki fare amount today - but it appears your tip was right @danielbowen ..
This pic just in from Robert's bus window re the 2024 fare prices:
I saw a relative onto the 16:36 train to Seymour. Just two carriages. Standing room only, on a weekend when lots of carriages are sitting around doing nothing. Lift your game, V/Line.

Better bus services, especially in middle and outer suburbs that are crying out for decent public transport, would get people out of their cars, providing relief from the traffic and saving households thousands of dollars a year. ptua.org.au/2023/12/08/bus-p…
If only they’d duplicated Mooroolbark to Lilydale while they were there so we could actually use the extra capacity.

Past investments in buses such as Smartbus and the uni shuttles have resulted in strong patronage growth.

Today is International Day of People with Disability - and while there's been progress, there's clearly a lot more to be done to make our public transport network accessible for everyone.

🚉🎂Happy 147th birthday to Winchelsea station, opened on this day in 1876.
With recent Warrnambool line upgrades, there are now five trains per day on weekdays. With V/Line demand surging, it would be great to see more services on weekends too.

Happy 152th birthday to Yarraville station!
Passengers often suffer long delays at the crossing waiting for trains. Govt has plans to permanently close the crossing and provide an accessible wide underpass. Sounds good!

A frustrating end to Stakes Day for hundreds of punters when a brawl brought their train to a halt.
Some passengers, fed up with the long delay, jumped onto the tracks, injuring themselves. @amberjohnston_1 #9News
It's 110 ten years today since electric trams first ran from Elsternwick to Glen Huntly.
And they're still the best electric car for cities.

There's almost *200 million dollars* on Myki cards. The government should make every effort to get money back to people - and push ahead with bank card fare payment options as soon as possible.
(Meanwhile, check your old cards!)

🚉🎂Happy 140th birthday to Showgrounds station, opened 7th Nov 1883.
Showgrounds and Flemington stations are a reminder that public transport can be very popular - including with people who don't use it very often - when it's fast, frequent, reliable and convenient.

All these buses feeding into Moorabbin, and only a train every 8-10 minutes into the City (half the usual peak frequency). No wonder it’s so crowded today. #MetroTrains
