Have you heard about #mDNS? It's one of those protocols that go under the radar, but that can really wreak havoc on your network if you don't manage it. While mainly used for consumer stuff, expect to see it in your network. It uses link local multicast so gets flooded at L2.

My friend Russ needs some feedback.

A question for the community: I've been struggling to get the rule 11 academy site up and running in a way that attracts subscribers. The member management software space seems like a complete mess, and it took me three times to find a video hosting process that consistently works. Should I continue trying to create and publish this content? Please let me know what y'all think in the poll below. The first option is to spend time figuring out a better member management option and relaunching. The second option is to work through some other portal to drive this training. The third option is folks are only interested if it is free. The fourth option is folks just aren't interested in network engineering training at all any longer.

Why is networking so great? My friend Brad really nailed it. It's about the friends we gained along the way.

I recently upgraded to CML 2.8 and there's a new refplat that gives access to Catalyst 9000v running IOS-XE 17.15.1. The 9000v emulates the ASIC, which makes it comparable to HW. I'm now running my ISE lab and have a Win 10 WM successfully using EAP-TLS to authenticate.

CML 2.8 is out! Time to upgrade the lab. Some of the new features include smart annotations, support for FMC and FTDv, LDAP group support, and custom MAC addresses. I'm going to see what's new with the Catalyst9000v, should be running 17.15 as opposed to 17.12.

Anyone dealt with iPhone that's stuck in white screen of death? I've tried hard reset, but didn't work. Also tried via iTunes to do software update, but also didn't help. Probably screen is broken? Is it possible to get the data off the phone?

If you want to learn more about TACACS on ISE, this post is for you! It's a super deep dive on everything you need to know to set it up, to verify, getting nerdy with packet captures, debugs, and live logs. Enjoy! lostintransit.se/2024/11/20/…

Can you be successful in IT with a poor memory? Most likely, you're not that much worse than anyone else, what you're experiencing, is called impostor syndrome. Here's how I responded to a Reddit user with some of my advice on combating it.

New blog post out on leveraging GPO in my ISE lab to distribute computer- and user certificates, as well as configure the 802.1X supplicant settings. Happy reading! lostintransit.se/2024/11/07/…

As I’m building out my ISE lab, it got me thinking. How do you simulate having users and devices on your network? Is there something that emulates an iPhone, Android, printer etc. so you can play around with profiling?

Got some feedback that the blog is difficult to read due to its brightness. Which do you prefer, the lighter or darker version?

Can't believe we're already 20 years into NETCONF and YANG. If you have a minute, please help Kristian and the IAB give feedback on the future of network management by filling out the questionnaire. We will all benefit from the future standards that come out of this. Thanks šŸ™
People, the Internet Architecture Board is hosting a workshop on the Next Era of Network Management Operations! It's been 20 years since RFC3535 that gave us NETCONF & YANG later RESTCONF etc. You operate a network? PLXZ to fill in questionnaire ietf.iad1.qualtrics.com/jfe/…

Post on adding ADCS to be able to provision certificates in a lab to test EAP-TLS and TEAP. This is done on the domain controller and ignoring all the best practices like having an offline root. Don't use this in production! lostintransit.se/2024/10/17/…
