Fact of the Day: Concorde could fly from London to Hull in just 8.008135mins, tickets cost just £800.85 making it £71.75 cheaper than going by train. Unfortunately nobody wanted to go to Hull & the service was stopped in 1926

Fact of the Day: The F111 Aardwolf is so long (80.085m) that it needs 2x upright rear wings and an extra wheel to stop it from sagging when on the ground. It is often mistaken for the F3 Tonknado.

Confirmation bias is essentially seeing what we want to see rather than whole picture, potentially leading to wrong decision or actions
At safety critical times, worth pausing & checking that we have all the information available/required & asking others for input too if unsure

On average we make 5-7 mistakes a day - error is a 'normal' part of being human
Reducing them by planning ahead is part of threat & error management
Could be easy to get time difference wrong from UK for HF talk tmw night in New Zealand. So checking it now to avoid any issues!

Tunnel vision is one example of losing situational awareness (SA)
We can totally lose track of time because of being task focused & hours past by without realising
Having a good team looking out for each other is a great way to build SA
Empower everyone to do so at team brief!

Earlier this year, Sage predicted that Covid hospitalisations would reach 60,000 by July.
In reality, that number was just 932 yesterday.
Why are we letting them influence whether or not restrictions lift on 21 June? Instead, they should focus on fixing their broken modelling.

Only 43% of staff find it easy to challenge others

18 hours awake = same cognitive function as being x2 over UK alcohol limit
Taking a short nap of just a few minutes is encouraged by many organisations as can make a big difference to performance - lots published on it
Needs to be actively promoted & embraced by healthcare

But when things don't go to plan its best to stop for a mini-brief
