Now let's talk a bit about FACE#02 - Red head.
While making this collection, I tried to set everything up into a universe where there was this futuristic store selling these faces to netizens. The name, "BUY A FACE", and the way I initially talked about these pieces ("Surfing the internet? Why don't you buy a face!" etc...), were all ways to set up this caricature of a store, where you could just pop in and buy a face to use online.
So there's this unhinged aspect to the whole thing I wanted to tap in, through the faces themselves, the texts and also the names themselves.
Calling this piece "Red head" because her head is red, despite her being blonde, makes the hypothetical store sound as broken and out of wack as the pieces themselves. So, in the end, behind all these pieces, there's an extra character that I end up playing, in a way: the store/creator. Creating things that it thinks look human or acceptable, but it's own perception of what is "human" being completely broken. Almost like a broken AI of sorts.
Again, I think this collection ends up saying a lot about my sense of humor and how I like presenting things.
FACE#02 - Red head is still available. One of the only two 1/1s left in the "Buy a Face" collection.
