Just dropped: Real TCO numbers for a production 248-GPU AI cluster. On-prem vs AWS, GCP, and OCI.
The gap is bigger than most people expect.
Full report with real pricing and transparent assumptions.

Awful Tech Today: how AI will scr*w me today. Delta, my carrier of choice, is going to use AI for ticket pricing. Wonder if it will be smart enough to figure out that I go to Germany for ISC every year? Or to SC, or other events, and use that to jack up my personal price? Nah, they wouldn't do that, right? theverge.com/news/709556/del…
I just dropped my 3,000 rand ($160 US) into the BackaBuddy fund to get Team Wits from South Africa to China for the ASC25 cluster competition.
Challenging anyone in the HPC community to meet or beat my number.

Hero Hotel of the Trip (so far)...Staybridge Suites in Burley, ID. I was trying to upload the PNNL video from my room - was going to take 6 hours. I called the front desk, they told me "we have a guy".....
I have some feedback for New Mexico too. While you may be the "Land of Enchantment", you mainly seem to be the "Land of Personal Injury Lawyers" according to the 1,679 billboards I saw in Albuquerque alone. Damn, you don't want to be known for that, show a little pride!
...and Texas CAN do a good rest stop, with restrooms and everything. They just don't seem to do very many of them. Get in the game, Texas, you're better than this!
I have some issues with Texas. First, why not build rest areas like everyone else? What the hell are these "picnic areas"? Who brings charcoal briquettes and raw meat on the road, then pulls over to fry it up on the side of the freeway in the (almost always) hot sun?
Road Trip Update: in Los Alamos getting ready for interview, then on to Sandia. Question: Where's a good place to eat in Amarillo? Thai and Indian aren't up my alley, so please confine to American, Italian, Chinese, etc. Thanks! #hpe#SC22#cornelisnetworks#gigaio#DellTech
I love me some Wyoming, btw. Piercing winds, high speed limits, and their biggest industry looks to be fireworks, judging by the 5,123 billboards I was along I-80. Shoutout to #hpe, #cornelisnetworks, #gigaio, #DellTech, #sc22 and all those who love the open road.
