Ahh ok. Nightmare getting to Melbourne makes a lot more sense now
“Good can’t lead the way when ⁦@united⁩ had a year to address many of the problems we are experiencing now, nor when United is running crew scheduling with nearly half the number of schedulers on the job at an airline one fifth the size.” FIX IT NOW! afacwa.org/united_afa_mec_de…

Waiting in a line 150 people deep at 1.30 am for @united to deal with the fallout from a cancelled flight to Melbourne. Where’s your staff @united? How long does it take to hand out some hotel vouchers? I’ll update in 4 hours when I finally get some help

Disgusting NIMBY behavior by our local officials that will only feed anti-immigrant rhetoric. There are empty hotels and people who need them. NYC is footing the bill. If we’re lucky some of these folks will choose to stay and contribute to our communities. What’s the downside?

I think an underemphasized mechanism of empathy loss in average people who became concentration camp guards is that the conditions in concentration camps made people disgusting. They had constant diarrheal diseases, didn’t have resources to clean themselves & then lost the energy

This is what happens when you, as a generation, spend your life learning sweet MMA moves instead of training to respond compassionately to people in need.

Congratulations to Professor Tarun Banerjee for winning a grant from the @RussellSageFdn and the @gatesfoundation to examine the pivotal role of the civil rights movement in the implementation of the war on poverty, 1965-71. Using the War on Poverty in the 1960s as a case study, sociologist Tarun Banerjee will investigate what factors best explain the implementation of federal policy and contribute to understanding the impact of historical movements on current policies. #CivilRightsMovement #WarOnPoverty #ResearchGrants

Study after study has proven that undocumented immigrants commit crimes at lower rates than U.S. citizens. Statistically speaking, you're measurably safer living in a town filled with average undocumented immigrants than a town filled with average native-born citizens.
