Giving @JanetJackson her flowers 🌹 Celebrating 40 years of Control and an era that changed my life forever. Watching Janet fully step into her power and creative voice during this time was such a beautiful experience. So many incredible memories from working together. Also want to give a huge shoutout to Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis for their brilliance on the album, and to all the amazing dancers who were part of this chapter. With love and gratitude ❣️
i can’t stand a bitch that’s never wrong, and that’s quick to get violent with their language if they disagree. even if i agree with you most of the time. people are way too comfortable being condescending, disrespectful, and petulant to strangers or quasi associates
always been a dream to work with the legend eric johnson and @essence!! had so much fun experimenting with the team on these looks (many of them low key era-defining). one of my fav shoots ever!
also, fun fact: after a full day on set, I went across town to pull an all-nighter with neva to shoot the ‘contact’ video 🙃 #ravenvaults

I’ve actually abandoned Otter.ai at this point. As a journalist, I’m not the intended audience, it seems.
Now, I take my audio recording and put it in Slack. Slack transcribes it pretty quickly and it’s a godsend 🙏🏾
i use otter.ai for interviews and at some point since i started using it it’s become an exclusively b2b product so instead of just showing me a transcript, it also creates an AI synopsis of the interview (usually unhelpful) and “action items” (always unhelpful lol)
✨Some exciting news✨ After spending 2 years at LAist writing fun, impactful stories, producing podcasts and even taking home some awards, I’m now in a season of exploring new opportunities — freelance, part-time and full-time.
I think, for many of us, media is a nice playground to learn and do great work but it’s not where things should end. And exiting the grind shouldn’t be viewed as a failure but as giving one’s self time space to dig deeper into the topics journalism was an entry way for.
I hit a wall in media. Not because it’s “not good enough for me” but it can only contain the imagination to a certain extent. Many of us can dream with more imagination than a budget will ever allow bc the budget doesn’t exist for all.
Learning how staying in media and only engaging with current events through publications and social platforms prevents us from scratching the surface. Let media be an entry way, revisit as you’re give the opportunities. It’s ok to take breaks if you’re as good as you say you are.
