Good question in comments: > Had the person who ran the above Python script been tunnelling to the production database by any chance? You should *never* connect to a production database for dev&test purposes. Use clones: gitlab.com/postgres-ai/datab…

Such an interesting thought: what would software systems look like today, if we had a different set of constraints?

.@databaseci takes the principles of continuous integration and applies them to database management (staging db, schema migration, etc), from the authors of Migra (github.com/djrobstep/migra) databaseci.com/blog/hello-wo… djrobstep.com/talks/your-mig… #PostgreSQL #golang #javascript

Perhaps one reason that our computing tools are terrible is that fixing them requires first mastering the current tools... which both causes Stockholm Syndrome indoctrination, and selects for people who aren't really inclined to notice the problem

Any code "browser" that's not a code "runner/inspector" is just a dead end IMO (~most of them). Yet very few folks actually seem to care about this stuff. Requires reshuffling the established editor/compiler boundaries. I don't see a way forward without dissolving these away.

Super pumped to play with this DatabaseCI tooling the migra devs came up with. Not only is it desperately needed, because it is Alpha I have a novel excuse next time we have an outage. Take a break DNS, you've earned it.
