One of the best parts about living in the South is that people like this auto-select out and probably move to LA / NYC / Austin. Keeps it nice here.
This is how much houses cost in checks notes *South Carolina* in 2026 lol We’re basically living through hyper inflation already but people just haven’t realized

An interesting case of rejecting someone else's framing. Reporter continually tries to frame conversation around Pratt being a MAGA guy and Pratt is able to reject that and focus local. It only takes a little backbone but so few people have the skill to recognize and reject someone else's frame.
Tom Llamas keeps forcing Trump questions in an LA mayor race interview. Spencer Pratt shuts it down perfectly: Trump is not the reason why my streets have naked drug addicts, no lights, and potholes everywhere or why my town burned down. This is a local race. @spencerpratt "This conversation is what's destroyed local elections. People don't care in LA. They want to feel safe. They don't want to step in human poop. I don't need to have personal opinions about anybody that doesn't affect them stepping in human poop."

Somalian fraud uncovering is great and all but we’re missing the forest for the trees. The problem is that the government redistributes massive amounts of wealth and can’t audit those $’s. The solution is to greatly reduce redistribution via welfare and subsidies.

It’s impossible to steal money that isn’t available and the us gov’t won’t actually be able to fix this problem

Just fired up claude code for the first time and oneshot a relatively simple iOS app I've wanted for some time. Lives up to the hype then some

The more you relate to a group, ideology, or activity as "yourself," the more you'll contort to fit that thing. Over time, you’ll stop thinking, assuming the position of your thing. Then you fully constrict around that thing, losing sight of yourself and happiness

Strongest example is politics. “I am hard right / left so I believe these things. If I’m good I do these things.” * beliefs change * “Now I believe these new things fully and without question”

If a “car guy” owns and drives a car he dislikes, will he be happy or feel shame? Make a “winner” lose? Can they be happy? When a “good cook” makes a bad meal, how will they react?

Why are the companies lauded for having the best product managers the ones with the worst products? Looking at you Amazon and Google.

Maybe the problem is - PMs have too much power and the designers are being shoved to the side for PM promotion projects - Incrementalism from people who don't own large enough slices of the product space

Therapy from the perspective of the patterns I learned when I was young is an interesting and impactful way to view patterns you use as an adult. But I think people frequently lean too deeply into that to deflect responsibility for how they act to someone else, like a parent

Switched jobs and feel totally reinvigorated. Growth is such a key to my happiness and boredom / stagnation is a black hole that sucks me into a dark place.

Have also started focusing on the impermanence of all things as a result of making this daily practice. E.g., baby screaming in my ear is frustrating. There will be a day when I have a kid and miss the baby phase and that makes me so grateful for that moment

If you ask yourself "how can I enjoy this experience 10% more?" the answer, for me, has almost always been be more present and invested in the experience.

This has also made me cry a lot recently. Tears of joy and intense gratefulness. Recognizing that every moment of life is so incredible, important, and beautiful if you look at it right. You only get so many moments which makes them all infinitely important and beautiful.

Realizing that maybe one of the reasons for meditation telling you to focus on your breath is to move your center of attention from the “self” to the body mind. More explicitly, maybe this is shift people talking about, permanently shifting attention from your mind to your body

@Plus3Happiness am I on the right track at all here? This is just something I’ve noticed as I’ve tried to be more mindful of “who” I am with my attention

To keep pulling this string while it’s top of mind, - periphery of vision tightens as “self” increases - body-mind focus leads to volume being turned down on thoughts - follows the “just do the dishes” thing I’ve read
