Congratulations to RHP Leonel Sequera (A) on being named Florida State League Pitcher of the Week! Sequera, 20, pitched a season-high 6.0 shutout innings, retiring the first 11 batters of the game, and allowed just two base runners in Palm Beach's 5-0 win vs. Bradenton on Tuesday.

Redbird Farmhands Player of the Week- Rainiel Rodriguez

Our Minor League Pitcher of the Month is LHP Braden Davis! Davis, 22, went 2-0 with a 1.14 ERA, 0.80 WHIP & 38 SO across 5 starts with Palm Beach and Peoria. Davis ranked first among all Cardinals qualified minor league hurlers in ERA, WHIP, SO, SO/9 (14.45), and opp. avg. (.115). His July was highlighted by a 13.0 inning scoreless streak to begin the month, including a career-high 6.0 shutout innings with 11 SO on July 8. He produced almost identical lines in his first two starts with Peoria, tossing 5.0 innings and allowing just one run on two hits with eight strikeouts in each start.

Braden Davis recorded 8 whiffs on 11 swings (73% whiff rate) with his changeup tonight. Among pitchers who have thrown at least 500 pitches, Davis leads the FSL with a 40.7% whiff rate.

Leonel Sequera just recorded a career-high velocity with this 96.3 MPH fastball. His average fastball velocity is up from 92.5 MPH in 2024 to 93.4 MPH this season.

We have announced our 2025 Minor League Coaching Staffs, with three new managerial assignments. We also welcome four new coaches into the #STLCards affiliate system: Peter Mooney (Memphis), Danny Black (Springfield), Michael Oh (Palm Beach) and Rich Benjamin (FCL).

Former NIACC baseball coach Travis Hergert has been promoted to the Philadelphia Phillies' Director of Pitching Development - Programming. Last season, Hergert was the Phillies' minor league pitching coordinator.
