Emergency rehab work begins June 15 on a section of the Potomac Interceptor near Pennyfield Lock in Potomac, MD.
Measures are in place to help protect downstream drinking water infrastructure. This section carries about 6 MGD on a typical dry weather day.

Following a 27-day closure, this key cross-town connection will reopen early Monday morning, restoring access for commuters while allowing construction on the Piney Branch Tunnel Project to move forward.

The Precautionary Boil Water Advisory for affected customers in Upper NW DC has been lifted as of 9:00 p.m., Saturday, June 6, 2026.
