Dom does good work, so I'd check it out. Don't know about his co-host though.
A thread to share a personal project: Along with @dead_baseball, we are starting a deep dive podcast series on the history of baseball labor: Service Time Podcast. Baseball's relationship with labor and management feels contentious, but it's really repeating its past.

Is there any way I can keep anyone with a cactus emoji or Red Raiders/Texas Tech in their profile off of my timeline? Or at least not have them make up 50% of the posts on my timeline?

Yet another example that Twitter users don't understand parallax... even those with a doctorate.
Bro. That ball is coming right out of the crowd. What the hell man? Hitters are playing โ€œwhereโ€™s Waldoโ€ with a 95 mph cutter. ๐Ÿคฏ

Skenes is so dominant, if he gives up 2 runs in 6 innings with 7 strikeouts and raises his season ERA from 2.83 to 2.84, people start freaking out. 90% of pitchers in the league you go "hey, that was a pretty good start." Skenes its "hey, something is wrong."
I thought it was premature to worry about Skenes after one or two meh starts because there's too much small sample size overreacting. Now it's not premature. Time to get it together.

I got some flak for this comment with people saying "he completely re-did his swing and now the results are showing... you don't know what you're talking about." Since this post, Campbell is slashing .138/.309/.169/.478 in 20 games in AAA.
Is Kristian Campbell cooked? Red Sox gave him that big extension last year, currently have the second worst offense in the AL, and Campbell is still in the minors. Never seen such a quick swing from "this guy is our future" to "he's fringe at best."

I've gone absolutely crazy with trades the last 3 weeks in fantasy baseball. Keep in mind this league has a keeper/salary and minor league system, so some that may look lopsided aren't actually that lopsided.

Trade #5. Bradish was the other pitcher killing my WHIP. I'm near the bottom of the league in WHIP and is the category that I need to improve if I'm going to win the league. Rasmussen and Gausman will do that. The main pull for the other team is Sal Stewart who is a $1 keeper.

Everything else thrown in in that last trade is to balance the salaries so I stay under the cap... although Henderson could also help my SB if he gets back to what he's done the last few years.

Every 8 start stretch in baseball history with 50 IP and 31 or fewer baserunners allowed. The shocking thing is how the hell did deGrom have a 2.32 ERA for one of those stretches?

Results for seasons with >80 IP, <1.40 ERA, and >120 strikeouts. You're doing pretty well as a starter when all the results are either elite reliever seasons, deGrom's injury shortened year, the year of the pitcher, or 16 seasons prior to 1920.

Can get the list down even further if I edge the results close to Misiorowski (85 IP, 1.35 ERA, 130 K)

For those wondering why Sanchez has 1.2 more bWAR than Misiorowski. Baseball Reference considers the Phillies defense ass and the Brewers defense good... a full half a run per 9 innings better. Sanchez also has the higher offense park factor in games this year...

All together, baseball reference predicts that an average pitcher would give up 4.51 runs per 9 with the defense and parks that Misiorowski has played in this year while an average pitcher would give up 5.49 runs per 9 for his defense and parks he's played in...

Even though Misiorowski's RA/9 is 0.37 runs lower than Sanchez, those factors make it so Sanchez ends up with the lower adjusted RA/9. Combine that with 6.1 more IP, it ends up being a 1.2 win difference with how they crunch the numbers.

It isn't that controversial of a take if you consider preventing runs the main job of the pitcher.
"Nolan Ryan isn't top 5 all time" is certainly a take

As much as I hate to say it, Kerry Wood still has that honor.
Is this the greatest non-No Hitter start ever?
