Since the days of slavery, Black workers have been targeted as a source of cheap labour, a practice that has impacted Afro-Canadians' labour opportunities over time, and still continues today.

#blackcanadianhistory As a young Black man in Montreal in the 50s and 60s, Ronald Jones used boxing as an outlet and a means of self-defence. He competed in local tournaments and even appeared in the famous 1961 NFB documentary Golden Gloves alongside his brother Arthur.
During his career in #MLB, #JackieRobinson was an All-Star for 6 consecutive years, won awards for Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Player, played in 6 World Series, and was the first pro athlete in any sport to have his number, #42, universally retired.
'Burgz' is the nickname Little Burgundy locals have given their neighbourhood. Steps from the Gauron Bridge @ the Lachine Canal on the edge of Pointe-Saint-Charles & Little Burgundy, Burgz Cantine faces its namesake across the canal.
