So proud of these two! It's been an exhausting road to get this clinical trial off the ground, but it was great to finally showcase off our pilot work on weight loss/GLP-1 agonists on mitochondrial efficiency! @ACSMNews

I'm grateful to have been awarded the "Outstanding Postdoctoral Scholar" award for @uofunuip! More great things to come in the world of mitochondria, GLP-1 (esp with Elizabeth on my team, who won Outstanding MS Student), and Alport Syndrome!

New preprint! This was the first project I took on when I started my postdoc. It took some twists and turns, but it turned out to be great! biorxiv.org/content/10.64898…

My life as a bald person and a dad to a 4-year-old girl in one post: I nicked myself shaving my head this morning and was bleeding. My daughter used up all of the normal Band-Aids, so I had to use one of her mermaid Band-Aids.

"Your claim is denied because congenital disorders aren't covered after age 26" Oh, because my cleft lip and palate magically took care of themselves once I turned 26. How stupid of me.

Somebody was upset that the mermaids couldn't go to daycare, so I told her that they would come to work with me and be my helpers today

Today in the lab: My coworkers are mind-blown that I have aphantasia.
It's baffling to me that some of y'all see stuff in your mind. You SEE it? The way your eyes see? I always thought "visualize" meant thinking of the words/ideas/feelings associated with a thing, not actual visuals. I am such a total 5 on this scale I didn't know 1-4 existed.

This recognition is meaningful as it not only highlights my research efforts but also carries a personal significance for me. With my daughter living with XLAS, my research and advocacy is driven by a desire to impact her life positively and potentially benefit others with XLAS.

I'm so grateful for societies such as @amsocmatbio, and for organizations such as the @AlportSyndFndn and @alportuk for all of their continued support and advocacy on this condition.
