Hey @Xfinity ! What’s with the outage, telling us to subscribe to channels we’re already paying for? It’s been eight hours. No responses. Are you trying to get us to leave you?

This week, I had critical conversation with a German historian about progressives and centrists who aligned with the NSDAP. It’s disheartening to consider. But it’s Why This Matters.
If we don’t put hard stop to “legend” of White Rose resistance, we’ll never understand why the real story is important to us today. Why this matters. open.substack.com/pub/denise…

#WomensHistoryMonth - celebrate the women who powered resistance during the Shoah.
As we celebrate Women’s History Month, let’s take time to correct the telling of White Rose resistance. Contrary to legend, it wasn’t male-centric, nor was Sophie the “helper.” Read more to learn about the women who were at center of action. True heroes. open.substack.com/pub/denise…

So Twitterworld knows: @AirCanada continues to defraud me by not refunding a flight to my Air Canada wallet. I have tried everything. Perhaps they think I’ll go away. This should have been handled 3 Oct 23. They simply won’t.

There’s so much disinformation out there regarding White Rose resistance efforts. It struck me that the disinformation is perpetuated because we *like* the false message. It conforms to our preferred postwar narrative. open.substack.com/pub/denise…

White Rose was neither a society nor a movement. It was a circle of friends who witnessed injustice and decided to DO SOMETHING. They got in “good trouble” [TM John Lewis]. open.substack.com/pub/denise…

Be. The. Change. It’s not too late.
October 12, 1943, Willi Graf was beheaded, abandoned by family, friends, country, church. Eighty years later, a sea change. One day at a time. Powerless people working together. Change! It’s possible. But we have to work for it. open.substack.com/pub/denise…

Replying to @AirCanada
@AirCanada - why isn’t anyone responding to my queries on the lost bag Web site? You keep showing it as unable to find, I keep trying to tell you location based on Air Tag. No answer. About ready to escalate.

@AirCanada , are all these people with strange handles really AC customer service? Or are they India-based scammers?

@AirCanada really is taking this seriously. (Sarcasm.) My bag has made it to PHL. But it hasn’t moved from baggage claim area in PHL since 11:30 today. AirTag showing it’s still there, instead of on the way to my house. Unbelievable. Why is it in baggage claim area?

Why are you asking me for phone number etc? I completed a claim form. That had phone #. I called CS. You have phone, address, etc. Why is it so hard for Air Canada to communicate? When will I receive my bag, which has been in PHL since 11:30 am?

Umm, this is not encouraging. My bag has moved from a location where it sat 24 hours, to Terminal 3, to two different gates at Terminal 1. And now it’s in a *swamp*?

@JohnFetterman and @USAmbCanada, could you please help? @AirCanada seems either unable or unwilling to walk to GPS of my bag and retrieve it. Frustrated beyond words. - Denise in Gettysburg, with bag at YYZ.

Five hours later, multiple DMs, including file number, air tag location etc. Response, but no resolution. Called CS, useless. She said Air Canada showing bag in FRA. Me: No! It’s in YYZ! Why can’t anyone go to location I’ve sent 3x in YYZ and find it?!

We need affirmation of ethics, journalistic standards, and a high enough regard for the common good that we end the lying. Whether history, politics, religion, journalism, sports, no more deceit. Decency!
All of us who wish to call ourselves scholars must loudly demand an end to the mythification of history. And current events. I for one have had enough. deniseelaineheap.substack.co…

I wish we (global we) could learn from history. Feels like we’re still paying for issues that remained unresolved 81 years ago.
Much of what Fritz Hartnagel saw and experienced in Ukraine 81 years ago is being repeated. Different players, similar issues. open.substack.com/pub/denise…

One of my five favorite true stories from German resistance during the Shoah. The golden thread of life.
November 6, 1943. Lilo painted autumn, unaware of slow-moving train headed her way. But the boisterous “hellooo Lilooo” from Hans Scholl & Alex Schmorell, hanging out a train window? Best day ever. They were *home*. White Rose work started in earnest. open.substack.com/pub/denise…

Like the White Rose circle, all of us Americans see the same injustices, the same attacks on liberty. Like them, we must choose: Act or be silent.
German soldiers on the Russian front in 1942 all faced the same landscape and were billeted on the same civilians. White Rose friends chose to listen and observe. They returned to Munich, resolved to do something. Their fellow Germans turned a blind eye. open.substack.com/pub/denise…
