Came across the Calabash (Kamandal) tree at Talkatora Garden with large & smooth gourds sprouting straight from the trunk and fresh blooms. Native to tropical South America, its name comes from Spanish calabaza (gourd). The shells become vessels; the pulp traditional remedies.

Saw these fallen desi babool pods at Rajghat- each pod a sculpture of nature and each missing seed a quiet signature of a bird.

Kamla Nehru Ridge is home to many Wrightia tinctoria (Doodhi) trees. Its leaves give a blue dye and its pale, fine-grained wood is used for carving & traditional toys like Channapatna. In Ayurveda, its leaves form the base of the well-known “777 Oil” used in managing psoriasis.

In Jalsaghar(1958), directed by Satyajit Ray, the servant tells the landlord it is Phagun(Basanta) & asks about muchkund sherbet. Muchkund is said to refer to Pterospermum acerifolium. Came across the tree at Humayun's-the line returned. Does anyone know more about this sherbet?

At Humayun's Tomb complex, saw a Buddha Coconut(Pterygota alata) in bloom. The tree itself is easy to miss, but its presence is marked below. Its fallen, starry flowers carpet the ground, forming a dense layer at the base. The ground beneath stands out more than the canopy above.
