Ukraine has created its own analogue of the Patriot missile system and has already conducted its first tests, according to the Financial Times.
The company Fire Point announced the successful first flight tests of its FP-7.x missile, designed to intercept ballistic missiles and drones.
According to the developers, each missile will cost around $700,000, compared to approximately $3.8 million for a Patriot PAC-3 interceptor. Production is planned to begin in August, with the first operational missiles potentially becoming available in 2027.
As the Financial Times notes, the system is unlikely to fully replace Patriot, but it could become an important addition to Ukraine's air defense network and help address the shortage of expensive Western interceptor missiles.
