I wrote a new paper describing Calibrated Basic Income, a macroeconomic policy in which an adjustable #UBI supports aggregate consumer spending.
Keeping the UBI adjustable is key to both preventing inflation and maximizing the benefit to consumers.

An efficient and productive economy always needs both UBI to fuel consumption, and wages to motivate labor.
As labor-saving technology improves, the necessary balance between UBI and wages shifts in UBI's favor.
Striking the right balance of UBI & wages doesn't cause inflation.

UBI is a cash delivery method or system; it is often paired with novel taxes as part of a package deal, but the tax end is its own separate discussion.

Nowhere in the definition of Universal Basic Income does it say it's "funded by taxes." Some people want to pair UBI with taxes, but that adds another layer of complexity.
It's worth understanding UBI on its own terms.

I like to emphasize that #BasicIncome is a mechanism for getting people money (i.e. even distribution to everyone paid out regularly) rather than a particular amount.
We can then ask what the optimal level of #UBI is given no other changes in fiscal policy. Is it zero?
