We traded the timeless, handcrafted luxury of 19th-century Pullman Company Cars for sterile plastic and cramped seats, and somehow convinced ourselves it was "progress."

Michelangelo’s “secret room” in Florence. Hidden beneath the Medici Chapels, this small chamber was discovered in 1975 after being sealed and forgotten for decades. Its walls are covered with delicate charcoal and chalk drawings that some experts attribute to Michelangelo. According to one theory, Michelangelo may have hidden here in 1530, after supporting the short-lived Florentine Republic against the Medici family. While staying underground, he is believed to have sketched studies connected to his major works. For decades, the room was closed to the public to protect the fragile drawings. Today, access is still extremely limited — only small groups can enter by reservation, for a short visit inside one of Florence’s most mysterious Renaissance spaces.

I suspect every Greek fishing village has one person who knows how everything used to work. The tides. The weather. Which rope to trust? Which boat won’t make it through winter? Probably this guy. “The Tide Reader”, 25X35cm. #windsturning #harbourpause

WHEN A BUILDING BECOMES A STAIRCASE. Termeh Office Commercial Building in Hamedan, Iran. Designed by Farshad Mehdizadeh Architects Ahmad Bathaei, the building turns a simple office-commercial program into a sculptural public gesture. The ground floor is used for retail, while the upper floor contains a private office. Instead of treating the two levels as separate boxes, the architects bent the dividing slab into a staircase, connecting the office directly to the street. Its brick surface continues across the facade and stair, using local brick and traditional bricklaying patterns to connect the contemporary form with its historic urban context. Architecture here is not just a facade — it becomes a path.
