The neighbors across the hall moved away and abandoned a big orange tabby cat. The cat doesn’t know its owner doesn’t want it anymore. Every day it paces around the door, meowing and meowing. When it gets tired, it lies down by the door and stares, waiting for its owner to come back, not knowing the owner already has a new home.
I wanted to take it in, but no matter how I coaxed it or called to it, it wouldn’t come into my place. I was afraid it would go hungry or freeze, so I put a cardboard box by the neighbor’s door, lined it with old clothes to make a little bed, and I bring food to feed it every day. I just hope that over time, the orange cat can forget its old owner and be willing to let me adopt it.
