Everything you love about generative models — now powered by real physics! Announcing the Genesis project — after a 24-month large-scale research collaboration involving over 20 research labs — a generative physics engine able to generate 4D dynamical worlds powered by a physics simulation platform designed for general-purpose robotics and physical AI applications. Genesis's physics engine is developed in pure Python, while being 10-80x faster than existing GPU-accelerated stacks like Isaac Gym and MJX. It delivers a simulation speed ~430,000 faster than in real-time, and takes only 26 seconds to train a robotic locomotion policy transferrable to the real world on a single RTX4090 (see tutorial: genesis-world.readthedocs.io…). The Genesis physics engine and simulation platform is fully open source at github.com/Genesis-Embodied-…. We'll gradually roll out access to our generative framework in the near future. Genesis implements a unified simulation framework all from scratch, integrating a wide spectrum of state-of-the-art physics solvers, allowing simulation of the whole physical world in a virtual realm with the highest realism. We aim to build a universal data engine that leverages an upper-level generative framework to autonomously create physical worlds, together with various modes of data, including environments, camera motions, robotic task proposals, reward functions, robot policies, character motions, fully interactive 3D scenes, open-world articulated assets, and more, aiming towards fully automated data generation for robotics, physical AI and other applications. Open Source Code: github.com/Genesis-Embodied-… Project webpage: genesis-embodied-ai.github.i… Documentation: genesis-world.readthedocs.io… 1/n

Have you ever got stuck in Vim? I'm not going to lie, that was my first experience with it.

Been migrating away from a Synology nas to a more power efficient mini pc running Proxmox. There was a bit of a learning curve, but now I've got all my local services up and running I couldn't be happier! 🤓

Spent this evening setting up a @goaccess report to be generated every hour with cron. It was a breeze. What an amazing project. ✌️

Been working a lot with websockets lately. It is incredibly satisfying watching 6 browser windows across two machines all react to an event at the exact same time 🤓

I always assumed LaTeX was just for mathematical notation. How wrong I was. Rewriting my CV with it has been a breath of fresh air.

Finally got around to pushing some updates to my website! This includes a blog post I wrote back in January about creating a toggle switch without any JavaScript! #100DaysOfCode barnz.dev/blog/toggle-switch…

While I might not be tweeting much lately, I am still hard at work. Toiling away on a rather large project at the moment. Hope everyone is having a good week ✌️

#100DaysOfCode Day 11: Fixed a bunch of tests to work with the new layout 👍 Jest is nice, but I think I prefer Jasmine & Karma 🤡

#100DaysOfCode Days 09 & 10: Been working on updating the UX for the new settings popup menu for my website. I want as much of it to work without JS as possible. Has been a fun exercise!

#100DaysOfCode Day 08: Did a lot of work on i18n this morning. Created a component to give credit to my amazing translator. Fixed a couple of contrast bugs when selecting custom accent colour. 🌐👍

#100DaysOfCode Day 04 & 05: Made some decent progress on a js-free popup menu for selecting language and theme. Built in such a way I can add additional options to it in future if needed. Now to clean it up and make sure it works on mobile. 📱
