This defeatist, “lesser evil” logic is precisely what’s killing Indian democracy. Your statement that “we have no option but to vote BJP” is factually wrong and dangerously anti-democratic. India has a constitutionally guaranteed multi-party system with national parties like Congress, AAP, and strong regional alternatives like TMC, DMK, SP, and others actively contesting elections. Dismissing all opposition parties as “the worst” without evidence is intellectual laziness that normalizes corruption and authoritarian governance. Democracy thrives on competitive alternatives, not resigned acceptance of “least bad” options. Your mindset represents the exact problem plaguing India today; citizens who’ve surrendered their critical thinking and normalized poor governance by refusing to demand better. This isn’t accepting facts, it’s accepting defeat. The 2026 elections in Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Assam will prove that viable alternatives exist when citizens refuse to buy this “TINA” (There Is No Alternative) propaganda. Stop peddling hopelessness as wisdom. Indian democracy deserves better than your defeatism.

When I see public humiliation on a regular basis by Trump of India’s Prime Minister, I am reminded of an incident when the Silent Dr.MMS dealt with when he was the PM. In 2013, Indian diplomat Devyani Khobragade was publicly arrested in the United States. She was even handcuffed and even strip searched. India faced a moment of national humiliation. There was outrage within India. Many expected statements and condemnation but what followed was a lesson in quiet but firm leadership. Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh did not shout nor give any statements. No laser eyes. No verbal diarrhoea. India acted firmly and decisively. Special privileges extended to US diplomats in India were withdrawn. The US embassy security cover was withdrawn. They were on their own. The issue was escalated at the highest diplomatic levels. Most importantly, India ensured full diplomatic immunity to Devyani by moving her to India’s UN mission, thus making her outside the reach of US Law enforcement. The message to the US was clear. India will be polite, but decisive. They were silent but actions spoke. We did not submit ourselves. There was no chest thumping. No statements. Only action. It was dignity, reciprocity, and statecraft. A confident nation asserts itself not through hugs and chest thumping but by statecraft.
