Just wrapped up today’s lesson in Cybersecurity. learned that that real game isn’t building walls. It’s the CIA Triad: Confidentiality, Integrity, Availability. Protect data from access. Keep it accurate. Keep it running. Every cyber attack targets at least one. A good security program defends all three. That’s the foundation.

Is it me or the AI race isn’t about better models anymore. It seems to be about who controls the chips, the power grids, and the data centers.

Today in BI I learned the architecture behind databases. Schema vs Data. DDL vs DML. Relational, XML, Graph models. Physical data independence. But the one that stuck is schema is like declaring types in code and data is the values. That separation is what lets systems scale without breaking. It’s graceful.

I shipped a product, built the landing page, and wired the waitlist. then realized I have no idea how to get my first 10 users. nobody talks about this part.

Just learned something that changes how I think about databases. When you write a query, you’re not telling the system how to find data. you’re telling it what you want. The DBMS figures out the algorithm. That’s the difference between a tool and a real system. Physical data independence means the structure can evolve without breaking your code. Performance isn’t a feature, but a constraint that shapes everything.

These are the languages I’ve learned so far, in order: HTML JavaScript Java Python TypeScript React came along the way (JavaScript’s favorite library).

At this stage of my career, there’s still a lot of languages I’m not familiar with, so there’s always something new to learn.

Looks like venture capital is now abandoning apps and Turing their attention to chips, robotics, and data center infrastructure instead. Software are too easy to build now.

The landing page exists to drive people here. Today I made the “here” app.logbook.dad. Nothing on it yet. just infrastructure waiting. The gap between the page that promises and the product that fulfills is where most builders quit. i’m at the gap. day 1 of crossing it. waitlist’s open if you want to see when it ships logbook.dad

GitHub Copilot just went from $29/month to potentially $750/month for heavy users. They adapted a flat rate to token-based billing overnight. The tool that was supposed to make developers more productive just became a budget conversation. What happens when the tools you depend on start pricing you out?

They said it would never happen. Apple just rebuilt Siri with Google’s AI inside it. The two biggest tech rivals sharing the same product. That’s not a feature update. That’s a signal. When the giants start merging to keep up. pay attention to what they’re trying to catch. apnews.com/article/apple-sir…

today i learned: Resend's "sending access" API permission lets you /emails/send but blocks /contacts/create. if you're building a waitlist that does both, you need “full access." cost me 20 minutes, recording it here so future-me (and maybe you) doesn't pay for it again. logbook.dad waitlist is live.

PostgreSQL is the most used database in the world right now. Not because it’s the newest. Because it does the job and keeps getting better. The best tool is rarely the loudest one in the room.

I’m a CS Data Science student documenting the full journey. Not just the wins. The bugs. The breakthroughs. The 2am deploys. I already shipped my first product logbook, a journaling app built for dads. Built with Next.js, TypeScript, and a lot of research. Follow along. I’m just getting started. 🌱

Everyone’s talking about AI writing code. Nobody’s talking about what happens when you can’t read what it wrote. The tool is only as sharp as the person holding it.

Major user error today. Forgot my earphones.
