gm. We've been heads down rebuilding @vaultdotfm from the ground up. now it’s time to ship. Today I’m excited to share what we’ve been working on: The fastest way for artists to drop music, videos, and moments first with fans and actually own the audience that shows up.

The Knicks going from Frank Ntilikina to Jalen Brunson in the #11 jersey is the biggest upgrade in NBA history. Good news is no one ever needs to wear the number again.

my childhood friends and I grew up in NYC and have had a group chat called Knicks Therapy for over a decade last night we watched them win it all in a park with thousands of strangers cannot believe I woke up with the Knicks as NBA champions

we just had our largest pop-up group chat activation yet and it reminded me why we’re building this artists want to actually talk with their fans not just post at them but they don’t want another community they have to manage 24/7

the best conversations already happen in group chats Vault lets artists spin one up for the moment: album drop, leak, premiere, release night, show announcements fans join for the moment. the artist captures the relationship, can text them later, and the group chat closes when it’s over the fan connection of a Discord without the forever job of running one

we learned this the hard way building vault. artists don’t need another place to broadcast at fans. they need a way to bring fans together when something actually matters: a release, a drop, a tour announcement, a big night. more like a concert than a community you have to run forever. that’s why we’re building pop-up chats: group chats for any moment
concerts work because they end. one room. one night. everyone who cares is there. then it’s over. we built pop-up chats at @vaultdotfm so every release can feel like that online. it’s a group chat for the moments that matter, not another community you have to manage forever

The direct to consumer apps for artist are fire. Like what do you mean I’m in a group chat with James Blake? Lol

Been a fan of @kevatwater for years He recently opened a 1-hour group chat on @vaultdotfm and debuted 4 songs from his upcoming album - 564 fans joined - 2,903 messages - 5,359 reactions - 45% of the chat actually posted a message Fans weren’t commenting into the void. They were talking to Kevin, meeting each other, trading socials, reacting in real time Then the chat ended and Kevin went back to the studio Next time, he can text every fan to pull back up Reaching fans isn’t the same as connecting with them

tech people are getting more creative music people are getting more technical my friends in tech are recording songs. artists and managers in music are building websites, apps, and tools to run their business the lines are blurring fast and I love it

the pop-up chats on @vaultdotfm were so lit today the backend started to melt for the first time this is what music communities feel like when they aren’t trapped in a comment section not sure if we’re back just yet but it feels like we’re onto something

most music releases die alone in the feed artist posts. fans like it. maybe comment. then everyone moves on. but the best music moments don’t feel like content. they feel like being in a room with everyone else who cares at the same time right now, releasing music online feels nothing like playing music in real life that’s the gap we’re trying to close at @vaultdotfm

one thing we're learning: there are more ways than ever for artists to reach fans but connecting with them is still hard especially without running a discord forever so we built pop-up chats at @vaultdotfm: live group chats that open for a moment then close Jake Segura from @citizensoldiero created one to share songs from their upcoming album - 1 hour group chat - 892 attended - 2,300 messages then it ended. a chat for the moment not a community to manage forever

every artist wants their release to feel like a concert but nobody wants to manage a discord forever so we built pop-up chats: temporary group chats for music releases @KeshaRose just launched one for origami on @vaultdotfm today vault.fm/chats/kesha/origami…

been thinking about this charts tell you what people streamed but they don’t tell you what people are actually talking about what if there was a chart for that? we’re playing with something at @vaultdotfm: every album drop gets a live chat, and the albums with the most conversation climb not the most streamed. the most alive. not sure where this goes yet but feels fun
