I believENS.

I got asked by @184eth “what community” when I posted earlier. X, for what ever reason, didn’t let me reply to him, in context. So here we go…my reply. ——— The community is everyone who pushed to be heard. A community is everyone, with every opinion. ens isn’t at the point where it can ask more from them when nothing is being done to actually market the protocol, even when it’s at its lowest. Asking for a price increase, built in a way to benefit those who can front run to lock in a 44% saving over 10 years (it’s actually 6) over those who have held their names for years (don’t forget, you’re turning 9 next month). It’s screaming desperation and money grab. We can all see the steady decline of registrations….month on month. Nothing is being done about how to change this, tell a story. Grow. Since November last year registrations have been in decline. In fact, revenue has declined over 41% in this period. This isn’t made up. This is on chain. What has ens done to change this…nothing. It’s not even looking who to build on…. But ens chooses now to upend fragility with hostility. Talk to the whole community and listen. The talent out there can take ens to places it just doesn’t want to go embrace. Everyone, the community, wants ens to succeed. Use it. Build on it We can all make ens win. Builders, ens, DAO, secondary. Everyone ——— If you’ve read this far….you’re either seething or believing. Glad ENS listened to constructive community feedback. The $8 renewal fee isn’t ideal, but it’s acceptable given the reasoning. I hope ENS also focuses on broader adoption and user onboarding, and continues to listen to community feedback.

#ENS has shown its true face, and now they’re trying to smooth things over by lowering the price to $8. What matters is not the price they set, but how they treat YOU. I will be dropping my domains regardless of whether the price is $12 or $8.

Certainly the World of ENS/NFT/Crypto we entered doesn’t exist as it was, but a part of me thinks things are cyclical and that something will spark interest broadly again. Its interesting to see that world events and Presidential pronouncements don’t move markets anymore and crypto has largely stopped listening/reacting 🤔 But we’re still here so I guess we still hold hope? 🤞
