Public procurement in Pakistan is one of the largest areas of government expenditure, and that makes it one of the greatest opportunities for digital transformation. Today, the Pakistan Digital Authority (PDA) hosted Mr. Hasnat Ahmed Qureshi ppra, Managing Director, Public Procurement Regulatory Authority, (@PPRAPakistan ) Pakistan; Mr. Abdul Majeed, Senior Special Professional; and Mr. Sheikh Afzaal Raza, Project Director (e-PADS), at PDA Headquarters to explore technology-driven public procurement in Pakistan. Dr. @sohailmunir , Chairperson of PDA, shared the Authority's mandate, vision, and strategic initiatives under the National Digital Masterplan. He emphasized the critical role of digital public infrastructure in creating a more connected and citizen-centric government. The discussion was focused on strengthening e-Government Procurement and how both sides can ensure that the PPRA’s e-procurement ecosystem aligns with the Digital Pakistan agenda. They spoke about the necessity of interoperable national digital systems and AI-driven procurement oversight, and agreed on a serious commitment to open contracting, cybersecurity, and capacity building. The PDA and PPRA will advance this discussion through a joint working group to enable structured collaboration with a whole-of-government approach. As Pakistan works to build digital governance and accountability across the public sector, a partnership between the PDA and PPRA will be instrumental in this digital transformation journey. Public procurement in the digital age lies at the intersection of technology and transparency, and the PDA and PPRA are taking important steps to ensure Pakistan gets there.

Digital autonomy is no longer optional, it’s foundational. At the OIC-COMSTECH Secretariat in Islamabad, @OIC_COMSTECH Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation and @Huawei jointly organized a seminar titled: “The Infrastructure of Autonomy: 5G and Digital Sovereignty.” Dr @sohailmunir delivered a compelling session on: “The Blueprint for Digital Autonomy: Balancing Global Partnerships with National Sovereignty.” The message was clear, who controls your data controls your future. From 5G as infrastructure, to data as a national asset, to AI as a strategic layer, the direction is evident, nations must engage globally while building sovereign capability, without dependency . The session was held alongside the formal launch of the COMSTECH-Huawei ICT Academy, marking a step forward in building regional digital capacity. The blueprint isn’t a document. It’s a decision.
