**Yes, it's true.** The Nonhuman Rights Project (NhRP) has been fighting for Happy since 2018. They filed a habeas corpus petition on her behalf to have her transferred from the Bronx Zoo to an accredited elephant sanctuary, arguing for her right to bodily liberty. The case went all the way to New York's highest court (which denied it), and they maintain a full campaign page with her timeline: nonhumanrights.org/client/ha….
