Look what showed up in my mailbox today. I have a chapter in here on polygamy and the law. Everyone is going to want this collection. It is amazing. @signaturebooks@clbrunobiv
This is the best book I have read this year. 5 stars. It is so much more than a history of the six disciplined in 1993. Rather, it really looks at the church’s dealings with feminists, intellectuals, and LGBTQ @signaturebooks@SaraMPatterson
Good news x2 today. First, I just had an article accepted by the Utah Historical Quarterly. Second, a chapter I wrote is finally in print and in my hands.
Some @SunstoneOrg presentations are fun. Others are somber and extremely pressing. @dinger_john is moderating a panel with @shoshonelder and @HendrixKomoto talking about violence, reconciliation, and the problems of history, especially as descendants of victims & perpetrators.
I don't care if it's still snowing outside, it's time for a new episode! @FemiLinzi and @muchcrap talk about the craziness of law and "order" in Winter Quarters with famed returning guest @dinger_john
One of these things is not like the others. My in-laws are cleaning out their dad’s house and asked if I wanted any of these. He was a true Benson Mormon, but I’m pleasantly surprised to see Brodie snuck in there. Hopefully he wrote in the margins.
Book mail part II. Amanda’s @HendrixKomoto new book came. It looks excellent, but I already know my favorite part. Footnotes 96, 98, 99, and 101-103 look really really good. 😆
Very excited to pick up this book as it deals with early Idaho legal history. Hawley was the US attorney for a time during the polygamy prosecutions in Idaho. He later became mayor of Boise and governor of the state.
