A terrifically tense and emotionally acute dystopian thriller, #40Acres also displays the excellent craftsmanship of #RTThorne, a TV veteran making his feature-directing debut. A breakthrough for Canadian Black cinema with a title that references broke American promises.

#40Acres is a very intense and effective post-apocalyptic thriller as well as a surprisingly engaging family drama. Danielle Deadwyler is fantastic as always and Kataem O'Connor is a standout. Definitely the better of the two Deadwyler led genre films this year.
