In his final weeks in Auvers, Vincent van Gogh often returned to the wheatfields. Under stormy skies, he painted vast stretches of land, in his words holding ‘sadness, extreme loneliness.’ So it’s not strange that these landscapes are often perceived as dark or foreboding. But in these same fields, Vincent also saw something ‘healthy and fortifying.’ As if the same fields could hold both weight and relief at once. Perhaps that is what we’re seeing: not a single mood, but a moment where opposing feelings exist side by side. What do you see in them? 1 © Van Gogh Museum 2 © Van Gogh Museum 3 © Philadelphia Museum of Art

Had a question in Council about it this month and will continue pushing for it. Meantime, I'm having some success in Bishopstown and Togher by directly contacting the ESB. Feel free to send me photos and locations.

7 June 1906. Cunard liner RMS Lusitania was launched at the John Brown Shipyard at Clydebank, Glasgow. The ship once held the Blue Riband for the fastest Atlantic crossing and was briefly the world’s largest passenger ship until the completion of the Mauretania 3 months later.

The shield located above the corner entrance of the HSBC bank at the junction of Holborn and Fetter Lane (24–31 Holborn) is the coat of arms of the Midland Bank. The 1950s building originally opened as a prominent Midland Bank branch. When HSBC acquired Midland Bank in the 1990s, the branch was rebranded as HSBC, but the original heraldry above the doorway was preserved.
