"OBJECTS OF CHILDHOOD TRAUMA ARE CLOSER THAN THEY APPEAR."
Inspired by "Almost Pt. 1" by
@prophiphop
I'm not going to pretend I had a traumatic childhood. I grew up in a stable two-parent home, with loving siblings, a supportive church, and a diverse community. I'm deeply grateful for that.
What I'm learning, though, is that having a good childhood and carrying childhood wounds aren't mutually exclusive.
Some of the beliefs, fears, insecurities, and coping mechanisms I picked up in my formative years have been riding with me longer than I realized. They weren't always obvious—until I started looking in the mirror.
I'm grateful for my church,
@embassyirving , and for Dr. Tim Rivers and the recent "Do You Mind, Part II" series. I'm grateful for therapy. And I'm grateful for a growing community that's helping me do the work of healing, growing, and becoming more whole.
