Whenever I post videos of Roc Raida, people leave comments with phrases like “Legendary” and “the best to ever do it” about him. But I wonder if they understand the hard work that Raida put in.
Raida’s dedication to mastering himself was unparalleled, “I would come up with a routine, and if I can’t do it one time flawless, then I would just trap myself in the house for the rest of the day, like, alright, that’s my punishment.” This means that he wouldn’t go outside if he couldn’t perform a battle set he composed in one take without any mistakes. Raida spent entire summers working hard to become “untouchable”. The X-Men were the same way. That’s why I push my Brolic Army DJ School students to be their best.
We all have only 24 hours in a day, which is limited time. But that doesn’t mean we can’t find time to prioritize improving our craft. Don’t wish to improve; make time to work to improve!
Mark your calendars for Monday, May 6th! This is the day when our talented students (DJ Shines, DJ Mystery, DJ Goldyi, Jdultraslick, DJ Double ii, DJ Windz, DJ Shaykey, Kano, Leo J, DJ Kut Lee, and DJ Tyson) will pay tribute to
@R0C4RAIDA’s legacy. They will compete to showcase their skills in the “Marley Scratch” (Marley Marl and MC Shan) routine, vying for the title of the best performer.
On Roc Raida’s birthday, May 17th, I will announce the Top three DJs voted by DMC finalist DJ Axis Pro, the 2023 Roc Raida Challenge Champion El Jeffe aka El Jeffe, and myself.
The top three winners will receive prizes from our proud sponsor,
#glowtronics.
