Nothing compares to the joy of reading! For that, we can thank teachers like Deborah Fields. The Varina ES instructional reading coach was named Richmond Area Reading Teacher of the Year by @VSRAToday's local chapter. She'll receive $500 to promote classroom literacy. Congrats!

.@KamalaHarris took a break from debate prep and visited Penzeys Spices in Pittsburgh on Saturday. When she entered the store, the vice president greeted a woman who appeared near tears as they hugged.
Harris assured her that things would work out. βWeβre all in this together,β she said.

I agree π―βΌοΈ
Thereβs too much of an allegiance to whole class novel teaching. Kids need more time at school to read. More access to books they want to read. And more social experiences connected to reading such as books clubs where they have choice and can read at their own pace.

Teacher effectiveness is not greatly improved by curriculum, new programs, or initiatives. But, when teachers are respected, valued, supported, & feel like their talents are utilized, then morale increases, job engagement soars, & students benefit too!
