The only way that residents of DC have ever gained our complete voting rights without moving is through the process of retrocession. Merging with Maryland works. Excluding a 2nd Retrocession from our advocacy for complete enfranchisement is disingenuous & clearly self-defeating.

Re: Maryland's dire economic outlook & downgraded bond rating, the 7th state should study merging w/ DC thru a 2nd retrocession. There was a bill last year in the House of Delegates about it (1413 was the bill #). We are going to bring it again next year. washingtonpost.com/opinions/…

I went to Wiz game last night. This was the score at the end of the first qtr. @NBA is a joke. Call traveling and carrying! The Association should relegate the bottom 3 teams in each conference to the G League. Presently players, coaches, refs, gms, owners, and fans don’t care.

I hate most bike lanes & believe @WABADC is awful and should not be publicly funded so that they can lecture us to drive less and enforce us to take a "road diet." However, the 15th St. bike lanes work. Keep them. Widen the road over the Mall if you must.

“Two teenagers, shouting ‘Allahu Akbar,’ threw homemade explosives at anti-Muslim protesters near the mayor of New York City’s residence. Thankfully, the bombs didn’t explode as intended, and the two were arrested and charged with attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction and providing material support to terrorists. Reporters and law enforcement quickly found that the two had very publicly supported ISIS and had carried out the act of terrorism in the Islamic terrorist group’s name.
“That kind of tidy, to-the-point framing, apparently, was lost on the legacy media this week.”

The merger works economically, historically, & politically. 51st Statehood has failed repeatedly. After I created Douglass County, Maryland as a 501c4 in 2015. The DC Council, mayor, and delegate changed the name of the fictious 51st from New Columbia to Douglass Commonwealth.

Congress just passed another resolution of disapproval against DC. Are we ready to ask to fallback? Look in the mirror DC. Look across the river. It's time to merge. 51st Statehood is also valid but Dems around the country don't like it. A blue wave does not bring it to shore.

1 of 2: Since Bad Bunny and Puerto Rico are in the news these days, I thought I would point out that Puerto Ricans are screwed by the Jones Act of 1920. That Act should be rescinded.

2: If PR wants Statehood, that's another matter. I would support that, but then Puerto Ricans would have to pay Federal Income Taxes. Presently they don't. DC is the only Federal territory where its citizens pay Federal Taxes. The obvious answer for DC is to merge with Maryland.
