The teapot’s base sizzles
on the burner before boiling, where metal upon metal
bends the loose water away. Congealed with light,
the vapor enters my lungs, becomes a part of me.
I want to know the feeling:
to be water, heat-purified, nestled into an ice cube tray, vase, teapot. To live on after,
to have always been.
