In a domain dispute, registrar is requiring a US court order to do anything. But the hacker got into registrar account and pushed the domain to themselves. Both the domain owner and the hacker are from Russia (registrar disclosed this to domain owner). Does this seem right?

A guy finished a Zoom interview, left the call, and then Zoom AI accidentally sent him the private post-interview recap and full recording. The interviewers asked him to leave the call after the interview so they could stay behind. Then AI sent the summary and a recording.

Do you have a Google Knowledge Panel for your name or you brand?

In a last-ditch effort, I contacted the thief (a web designer) who stole the domains from a non-profit. Gave him a chance to push the domains. He won't. Once we file the UDRP his name will be everywhere. We are getting close enough to cover UDRP fees: gofundme.com/f/support-make-…

Should we just name the thief now? What do you think?

The SEO industry may be entering another familiar cycle. This time, instead of companies buying backlinks to manipulate traditional search rankings, marketers are beginning to experiment with buying brand mentions intended to influence AI-generated responses in Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, and other large language model systems. At the Search Central Live Shanghai 2026 event on May 15th, Gary Illyes from Google reportedly warned against buying or manipulating brand mentions for the purpose of appearing in AI-generated answers and AI search experiences. Why Paid AI Mentions Could Become the Next Google Penalty billhartzer.com/seo/paid-ai-…

Just because your site has traffic (or you send it traffic) doesn't mean it's going to rank in Google or do better in Google's search engine results.
I sent 400,000 real human visitors to a website. Did it help improve the site's search engine rankings? Here's the results of my ongoing test (and all the details): billhartzer.com/seo/can-real…

Stolen domain name. Response from registrar: "it has been determined that the unauthorized transfer or loss of the domain was due to negligence or a security lapse on the part of the original account owner." Wait, What?!?

Update on this: the registrar is officially saying that they are acknowledging that the account was hacked and the domain transferred without permission. But it WAS NOT THEIR FAULT that the account was hacked, so they will not request a transfer undo.

Domain was stolen. Transferred to another registrar. Owner reached out to their registrar. "Sorry, you didn't secure your account well enough. We can't help you. Talk to the gaining registrar." Trying to get more info, but that just doesn't seem right. #domains

Google just confirmed what many of us who have been doing SEO for decades have been saying all along: “AI SEO”, GEO, AEO, and all the other AI buzzwords are still just SEO. After nearly 30 years in this industry, I’ve seen the same cycle happen over and over again. New buzzwords. New acronyms. New “must-have services” agencies suddenly want clients to pay extra for. Now it’s AI. Here’s the reality: if your SEO strategy is solid, you should already be benefiting from visibility in Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, and Bing AI. If not, your SEO has problems. In my latest article, I break down Google’s new AI optimization guide, the myths Google just debunked, why most “AI SEO” sales pitches are nonsense, and what actually matters moving forward. And yes… I rant a little. Read it here: billhartzer.com/seo/google-c…

Can you spare $10? The reg fee of one domain or renewal of one domain. We're helping to raise money to cover the UDRP filing fees of a non-profit that had their domain names stolen. #domains
ICYMI: A non-profit helping veterans and victims of domestic violence furnish their homes had their domain names stolen. We're raising money to cover legal expenses to get the domain names back. Even a Like or a Share will help here. #domains

So someone put up an online store on Nexvro.Store. Turns out that I own nexvro.com. The .store domain owner apparently is confused--and has their contact info using the .COM domain and not the .Store domain. I'm getting all their emails. Power of .COM.

We've raised $450 so far, and some domainers have been gracious enough to help. We're trying to raise enough to cover the UDRP filing fees to get these stolen domain names back for the non-profit. #domains
What would you do if your web designer, designing your new website, stole your domain names? What if they literally went into your @Godaddy account and transferred your domain names to themselves, without your permission? Well that's what happened to a non-profit organization that helps Veterans and Victims of Domestic Violence. I've spoken with the web designer (who also claims he's an SEO as well). He refuses to give the domain names back unless he gets $5,000 to "give the domains back". Not only did he steal the domain names, he's also extorting this non-profit. A police report has been filed, documenting the theft. What's an organization to do? They need to file a UDRP domain name dispute--there's no other way to get the domain names back unless you file a lawsuit. The non-profit has set up a GoFundMe to raise enough to cover the filing fees for the UDRP filing. It's at $450 so far, we are really close to covering the fees. Two law firms have already mentioned to me that they'll help with the legal side of it--if we can raise enough to cover the filing fees. Any small amount really helps (social shares help, too!). gofundme.com/f/support-make-…
