It's almost time for Global Accessibility Awareness Day and I can finally share my thesis in an accessible format โ€” for everyone to read ๐ŸŽ‰ It took a year, but I managed to create a website with an #accessible version of the 160-pages thesis on #overlays: overlays.dnikub.dev

Simplified Accessibility Testing, right from your browser?!๐Ÿ’ก๐Ÿ” I designed and coded this little landing page to showcase all the #accessibility browser #bookmarklets powered by #CAAT and created by the team at mindscreen. Take a look: tools.caat.report/

Daniela Kubesch says that even though the web now has more AI-written articles than human ones, they often don't perform as well. Will AI content always come second place? ๐Ÿค”

I'm on my way to #DWX2025, swapping the heat of Barcelona for what appears to be the heat of Mannheim๐Ÿ˜„ I'm looking forward to the speaker dinner tonight, and to taking to the stage at 16:00 on 2 July! ๐ŸŽ™๏ธ If you see me, please come and say hello and grab your CAAT button! ๐Ÿฑ

I love clients who ensure that their disabled buttons have sufficient colour contrast, while also working to remove the anti-pattern of disabled buttons from their websites altogether โค๏ธโ€๐Ÿ”ฅ

On July 2, I will be at the #DWX2025 in Mannheim! ๐Ÿ“ท Once again, I will be on stage talking about the impact of #accessibility overlays on the #usability and #UserExperience of people with permanent visual impairments. Hope to see you there!

Let devs design and let designers code. It is about not being put into boxes. It is about looking beyond the tellerrand. โ€“ Matthias Ott at #BTConf

Matthias Ott talk covered so many interesting options for painting on the web. ๐Ÿคฏ For example, fluid web typography (using clamp()), colour space options (using oklch()) and the power of CSS grid. So inspiring, I want to rewrite my website right now and try them all out.

This slide of Lรฉonie Watsonโ€™s talk has to be my favourite of the whole conference already, as it perfectly visualises what I often think in my head in my daily work as an accessibility engineer ๐Ÿ˜…

I accidentally got a sunburn yesterday, and today it's heavily raining and cold. I'm really unsure what to pack for my trip to #BTConf as the weather forecast for Germany is also a bit unpredictable these days. ๐Ÿ˜…

Working in #a11y means spending an afternoon writing tickets explaining why a <div> with only an onClick listener is not automatically a button and how wrapping an <a> element without a href attribute in a <form> is not good either. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

In terms of #email #accessibility is it still necessary to add role=presentation to every table, tr and td element, as adding it to the table element alone is not enough, especially for #ScreenReaders and old email clients? ๐Ÿค”

This is definitely an implementation of a search button I've never seen beforeโ€ฆ I have so many questions, primarily WHY ๐Ÿฅด

Just arrived in Vienna to attend this year's #ZeroCon (zerocon25.zeroproject.org). Anyone else gonna to be there? ๐Ÿ‘€

โ€œI implemented an image that uses onClick, but now I realise that there needs to be a button cause some users can't access it. It also needs an accessible name. I must change that.โ€ I'm so glad my students are relearning HTML while realising the impact their code can have.

No โ€œyear in reviewโ€ post from me this time, as a broken pipe in my apartment literally lets me slide into the next year ๐Ÿฅด no need to wish me a โ€žGuten Rutschโ€œ for NYE (aka. a good slide into the new year), as we do in Austria haha

While auditing different sites this year, I've found that a description list (<dl>) would have been a good fit multiple times. It's nice to see a short post about it by David Luhr, as it is indeed highly underrated! htmhell.dev/adventcalendar/2โ€ฆ
