I watched LOTR with a Trumper friend and found it so off-brand that he was rooting for the Hobbits. I was expecting a 'go get em!' when the Nazgul rode from Minas Morgul. But nothing. I think the kinship would have been more apparent had they worn white.

It wasn't until the scene in Ithilien that he rediscovered his brand identity. As Faramir's honkies shot at the brown people legally crossing the border into Mordor, he quipped 'ICE on the scene!' and I thought to myself that the world was right again.

On this day 92 years ago, our country emerged from Prohibition. At exactly midnight, the Budweiser Clydesdales delivered a case of beer to the White House that FDR was only too happy to receive.

Once Prohibition ended, who was going to tell women to leave? They had hiked up their shirts, lowered their necklines and made themselves at home. Women had turned the somber, drunken saloon into the convivial, lively bars that we know today.
