๐ CAVALIERS CLOSE STRONG, CLAIM 74TH LYNETT TITLE โ FIRST SINCE 2022 ๐ฃ๐ก
Scranton Prep weathered a physical second half and a late Dunmore push to secure a 77โ63 win Monday night at the Lackawanna College Student Union, capturing its first Lynett Memorial Tournament championship since 2022.
After taking a 34โ29 lead into halftime, Prep opened the third quarter with purpose.
@CharlieSkoff1 set the tone inside, while the Cavaliers absorbed Dunmoreโs early surge and answered every run. Despite foul trouble and trips to the line for the Bucks, Prep maintained control behind poise, depth, and timely shot-making.
Dunmore made it a one-possession game midway through the third, but Prep closed the quarter strong to take a 49โ44 advantage into the fourth. From there, the Cavaliers separated. Freshman Jimmy Doherty knocked down two momentum-swinging threes, Max McGrath finished through traffic, and Packy Doherty took over late โ attacking gaps, converting in transition, and sealing the game at the line.
Prep stretched the lead to double digits midway through the fourth and never looked back, closing the final minutes with composure to pull away.
FINAL
Scranton Prep (5-2) โ 77
Dunmore (8-1) โ 63
@ScrPrepSports finished 15-of-28 from the line and 3-of-8 from three, while Dunmore struggled to find consistency, shooting 33% from the field despite multiple late looks.
