Think I'll try a new window manager thing on the new work computer. i3 maybe? I want to plug in monitors and have sets of terminals/windows reopen into premade layouts. I never quite get this to work perfectly.

I registered the domain slashdot.org 25 years ago today. I was learning Perl by developing what today is called a CMS to more easily maintain my homepage… in the process I decided i was building news for nerds, but was clueless what it would eventually mean.

In a fit of incredible stupidity (all tests uses regexes vs exact matches) some meta protocol commands have an extra space before the newline. Now I'm thinking hard about if this can be fixed safely.

Obsessing about unit test frameworks. Want a portable single-header one for tarball tests but a more advanced one (Cmocka) would be great sometimes but don't want the extra dep for users. Would it be weird to have two? Or an external extra suite?
A few years ago I was motivated to write a blog series on evolution of unix/linux systems administration but apparently nobody wrote detailed accounts for "those people". Everything noted about how weird Beardo was but nothing about his systems of work.
