What gives? I'll explain: - Selimi was detained by Kurdish SDF on August 1, 2018 - Was repatriated to Kosovo on May 28, 2022 and sentenced in December 2022 - Kosovo courts, unlike US courts in similar cases, chose to fully credit all his time in SDF camps pre-trial detention toward the sentence, effectively reducing his time spent in a Kosovo prison after sentencing to a mere few months. - Selimi reestablished contact with his Serb intelligence handler in September 2023 (per his confession) after being released from prison, and resumed activities, received phones and payment, and kept feeding intel to BIA. - Bottom line, Selimi picked two of the most dangerous/deadliest jobs on Earth, jihadist foreign fighter and spy, yet lived to be sentenced for both in under 4 years. Earlier today, Lakurawa members brutalised the son of a district head in Sokoto State after he visited another community. He was punished first for having songs on his phone. Then they were unsatisfied with his response about who the ISSP members were that visited his community and dropped letters. He told them all he knew about their coming and the letter left with his father, but they accused him of lying. He was clubbed so badly that his arm broke and he sustained head injuries. It was obvious that an informant had alerted Lakurawa about the visitor because, the Lakurawa men, on 20 motorcycles, headed straight to the village head’s palace. They forced the village head to lie face down for not informing them of the man’s arrival, especially as they had been in the village since the previous day. This is another stark example of life in rural communities with little or no state protection.
