My favourite 57605 'Pendennis Castle' rumbles through Twyford last night with the down Night Riviera for Penzance.

Still on cloud 9 after our wedding 3 weeks ago @CWRailway. It was the best day, with the people I love and trains! Some of the professional photos have just come through - here are some of my favorites.

If you're looking for a new energy supplier then I've been impressed with Octopus. Use this referral link to sign up and we will both get £50! share.octopus.energy/metal-l…

The new GBR livery doesn't look quite as bad as I feared in the flesh. Still not a fan of all the flag stuff mind. I do wonder how many tens of millions have been wasted on rebrands on the railway in the past 30 years though. Passengers mostly just want a boring reliable service.

So this account will look a bit different in a couple of months, as we're moving to Thailand for 2 years - my wife has got a job at an international school. A tough decision to leave my job on the railway, but adventure beckons! I'm on the lookout for remote work opportunities...

I will be doing all I can to keep my driving competency on the WSR though. I have already planned a trip back in 2027 to do some refresher turns!

My main achievement from nightshifts this week has been to get 166204 'Norman Topsom MBE' on @HenleyTrains 3 days in a row! Nice to see the branch being well used at Twyford, connecting conveniently with mainline services every half an hour. **No short forms as a result!**

Bit of a treat on @HenleyTrains today as 166204 'Norman Topsom MBE' makes a welcome return. A true gentleman, Norman was always encouraging of my railway interest when I was growing up. I always try to get his trains to Henley when circumstances allow!

A shadow of its former self, but still shifting lots of people! 165124 at Windsor and Eton Central with one of the every 20 minute shuttle services to Slough. This branch is crying out for electrification and modern 4 car EMUs.

To be clear I'm referring to the station, not 165124!

Surprise last minute guest for the WSR Summer Diesel Festival! Well done to everyone who made this happen. A fifty in large logo blue looks and sounds the business 👌

We made it to Paddington courtesy of 57312. Plus I slept much better than expected when you compare it to business class on an airline this is an absolute steal and feels very civilised.

Lucky to see an HST at Penzance earlier. What was once such a regular sight is now quite rare sadly. Even the 'Yellow Banana' NR monitoring train is on slightly borrowed time.

How civilised! The bar car on the Night Riviera is lovely. A delightful way to travel.

This has been on the bucket list for a while. Night Riviera to Paddington. Just off to get myself comfy in the bar car!

More shots of the wonderful St Ives branch. Only 2 carriages today, which isn't really enough. Lots of leisure users who only travel by rail infrequently - we need to give them a good experience.

I think this just might be Britain's prettiest branchline. A service for St Erth pulls out of Carbis Bay with the turquoise waters providing a stunning background. Almost makes the 150s look good!

Went for a walk along the St Ives branch today. Pretty pleased with the results, what a stunning piece of railway line.
